LION Smart GmbH

LION Smart is an innovative development service provider for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers to the automotive industry as well as other branches of industry. The company operates test benches and test laboratories for electrical storage systems together with TÜV SÜD AG (TÜV SÜD Battery Testing GmbH). As a high-quality engineering service provider, LION Smart also offers consulting services in lithium-ion storage technology and maintains its own research and development program in this field. LION Smart supports its customers in mastering this technology and applying it to the respective vehicle concept and works closely with research institutes and universities.

LION Smart North America Inc.

LION Smart North America Inc. is the sister companie of LION Smart and extend the service portfolio of LION Smart to the North American market.

LION Smart Production GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of LION E-Mobility AG for the production of electrical energy storage and lithium-ion battery system technology.

Joint Venture TÜV SÜD Battery Testing GmbH

TÜV SÜD Battery Testing is a leading company in the field of battery testing at cell, module and pack level. The company operates its own test rigs and testing laboratories at its sites in Garching near Munich and Weßling-Oberpfaffenhofen.

TÜV SÜD Battery Testing offers services to support the development and validation of your products against currently valid and new standards. Application areas include electric vehicles, electric bicycles, stationary storage, rail and marine, two-wheelers, grid storage, grid stabilization, backup systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), off-road and aerospace.

Alessio Basteri, founding partner and CEO at Acquarius Advisory SAGL, was also newly elected to the Board of Directors. Acquarius Advisory SAGL is a Swiss corporate finance advisory company based in Lugano with a special focus on Electric Vehicle sector and advanced tech companies. As Founding partner of Acquarius Advisory SAGL, Mr. Basteri has been involved in cross border transactions in the EV Sector in Europe and Asia.

Ian Mukherjee was the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Amiya Capital, a fund that invested principally in Emerging Markets with $1.8bn under management and offices in Europe and Asia. He closed Amiya Capital in 2018 to fully focus on his Family Office as well as serve on boards of several for and non-for profit companies and trusts. Prior to founding Amiya in 2005, Mr. Mukherjee was a Partner and Managing director of Goldman Sachs where he spent 14 years - including 6 based in Asia.

Tobias Mayer is a founder and senior manager of LION Smart GmbH. He has extensive experience in design, automotive engineering and product development. Prior to founding LION Smart, Mr. Mayer worked for BMW in project and quality management. Within the scope of his managing activities, he is particularly committed to establishing a network of partners to accelerate the development of pioneering storage technologies suitable for series production.

Dr. Eichhorn is a highly accomplished automotive engineer known for his extensive
contributions to the automotive industry. With a career spanning several decades, he has
played a pivotal role in shaping the future of automobiles and transportation systems in a wide
range of areas, from vehicle safety and emissions control to advanced technologies such as
electric and autonomous vehicles.

His career included several positions at global leading automotive OEM’s and organizations,
such as Ford Motor Company, Volkswagen and the German Association of the Automotive
Industry (VDA). He contributed directly to the development of models like the Ford Focus and
Ford Puma and held prominent roles in three distinct periods at Volkswagen, serving as the
Head of Research & Development, Chief Technology Officer and, more recently, as Group
Representative for Volkswagen’s Future Mobility Platform.

In his almost 10 years at Bentley, he oversaw projects like the Bentley Continental, Bentley
Brooklands and the Bentley Mulsanne, focusing on vehicles’ performance and fuel efficiency.
From 2012 to 2016 he served as Managing Director of the influential German Association of the
Automotive Industry (VDA) in Berlin, Germany.

Throughout his career, Dr. Eichhorn has been a strong advocate for reducing the environmental
impact of the automotive industry. He has actively promoted the development of electric and
hybrid vehicles, as well as advancements in fuel-efficient technologies. His commitment to
sustainability and emission reduction has been a driving force in shaping the industry's
direction towards cleaner, greener and more sustainable transportation solutions.

Dr. Joachim Damasky is an accomplished automotive industry leader renowned for his visionary approach, strategic prowess, and expertise in driving innovation, sustainability, and collaborative partnerships across various high-profile roles in renowned organizations like Hella, Webasto, the VDA and BMW.

Dr. Damasky hails from Gießen and studied Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt from 1981 to 1988. From 1989 to 1994, he served as a Research Assistant at the Institute for Electrical Power Supply, specializing in Lighting Technology, and obtained his doctorate in 1995.

During his tenure from 1994 to 2008 at Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., Dr. Damasky held progressively significant roles, culminating in his positions as Product Area Manager and Commercial Managing Director at Behr Hella Service GmbH. His responsibilities included spearheading restructuring initiatives, achieving notable enhancements in quality standards, cost optimization, and substantial profitability growth. Moreover, he played a pivotal role in expanding the company's global market leadership in fuel-operated heating systems and driving innovation with the introduction of pioneering electric heating systems for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Joining the Webasto Group in 2008, Dr. Damasky served in key executive roles until 2015, leading the successful reorientation and expansion of the electromechanics and electronics division, resulting in the global supervision of developmental projects for sunroofs, convertibles, and thermal systems.

As a Managing Director at the VDA, Dr. Damasky was responsible for overseeing technological advancements, safety protocols, environmental sustainability, and the progressive integration of electromobility and Connected and Automated Driving across diverse manufacturer groups.

Dr. Joachim Damasky stepped into the position of Senior Advisor for Corporate and Governmental Affairs at BMW in July 2022, overseeing strategic initiatives and fostering relationships between the company, governmental bodies, and stakeholders.

Jörg Peter Hahn is Head of Finance at LION Group. Jörg has many years of experience as a director, head of finance and chief financial officer (CFO) for several international companies. Most recently, Jörg worked as a management consultant in financial services at Detecon International (Deutsche Telekom) and founded a start-up for IT hardware for critical national infrastructure as CFO/COO. Before that, he was responsible for controlling the finances of several start-ups as interim CFO. As a commercial manager, he was at the German branch of a Spanish machine builder, served as head of finance for a global IT hardware manufacturer and acted as IBM management consultant for financial services. He began his career in the credit department of the renowned DZ Bank.

Jörg Peter Hahn holds a degree in economics from the University of Hohenheim, and an MBA, SBA Portland State University, Oregon, USA.

Michael Geppert is co-founder and Head of Engineering at LION Smart. After his diploma at Technische Universität München and the foundation years at LION Smart, in 2010 he moved to the company’s joint venture with TÜV SÜD to help build up one of the then first and largest battery testing laboratories in Germany, leading it as Head of Laboratory for multiple years. Since 2018 back at LION Smart Michael took leading roles in Engineering and customer integration of lithium-ion-batteries leading to the successful SOP of LION Smart’s series-produced battery packs in in 2023.

Felix Kählert currently serves as Head of Purchasing and Project Management, overseeing a significant purchasing volume and managing a diverse team. With a strong background in commodity management, he has demonstrated expertise in strategic supplier relations, procurement software implementation, and global purchasing strategy development. His career highlights include achieving notable P&L ratios and establishing stable supply chains under challenging conditions. Previously, he held various roles at Nidec GPM GmbH and Joyson Safety Systems, focusing on global commodity management, Program Management and Engineering. Felix's academic background is in mechanical and production engineering, complemented by certifications in leadership, Lean Six Sigma, and project management.

Andreas Vogt is Head of Production at LION. Before that, he has been with the NIDEC GPM Group since 2003 in the same position. He was able to gain relevant experience through his various positions in the company. As foreman of production and logistics, he was responsible for 60 employees. After a further 7 years, he took over the technical and disciplinary management of several plant departments as division manager. Since 2015, he has held the positions of Deputy Production Manager and Expert Lean Manager, supervising around 360 employees in direct production and prototyping. At the same time, he contributed his expertise to the relocation of products from Daimler-Benz AG Berlin to NIDEC - Hungary as technical project manager.
